Experiment

OTC analysis of Spf-ash
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Miki, Toshio
Description Ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC) deficiency is the most commong urea cycle
disorder in humans. I this experiment we are testing functional compensation of
stem cell derived hepatic cell transplantation by using one of the OTC deficient
mouse models, Spf-ash. Urinary orotic acid determination is the standard assay
to diagnose orotic aciduria. Mouse uring is collected for 24 hours using a
metabolic cage. The cell recipient OTC mice are expected to demonstrate lower
urinary orotic acid concentration than untreated animals.
