Strain
B6;129S5-C1qtnf1tm1Lex/Mmucd

Summary Data Summary
Official Name B6;129S5-C1qtnf1tm1Lex/Mmucd
Common Name B6;129S5-C1qtnf1tm1Lex/Mmucd
Description Exon 4 of the C1qtnf1 gene was replaced with an FRT-flanked
lacZ and neomycin resistance cassette.

Targeted or gene trap mutations are generated in strain
129/SvEvBrd-derived embryonic stem (ES) cells. The chimeric
mice are bred to C57BL/6-Tyrc-Brd albino mice albino mice to
generate F1 heterozygous animals. These progeny are
intercrossed to generate F2 wild type, heterozygous, and
homozygous mutant progeny. On rare occasions, for example
when very few F1 mice are obtained from the chimera, F1
heterozygous mice are crossed to 129/SvEvBrd x C57BL/6
hybrid mice to yield additional heterozygous animals for the
intercross to generate the F2 mice.
Development Status Phenotyping ongoing
Creation Method knockout
Phenotype Description C1qtnf1 knockout mice, when fed a control low-fat diet,
develop insulin resistance and pronounced fatty liver as
compared to control wild type mice.
